THE HAND THAT GUIDES
I remember reading a wonderful middle piece in Hindustan Times some years back; it was about the experience of the writer, a woman, as she drove along a busy highway (Delhi - Rohtak highway, if my memory serves me right). I think it was titled, 'The Hand that Guides'; the hand of another driver in front of her car guiding her as she got confused and alarmed in the chaotic flurry of speeding vehicles. She thankfully remembers that the hand guided her safely as long as she drove on the highway.
This is what we often miss as we pull along on the journey of life. As others speed past us, we may get frightened and confused. Getting caught in the reckless rush, wherein people seldom care about others, can be a harrowing experience - just like driving along a busy highway where other drivers are unmindful of your hapless situation as they hasten to their destinations. They blow horns making shrill noises to intimidate you into submission - you try your best to make way for them. The madding traffic keeps on increasing your perplexity and trepidation. We yearn for a guiding hand to appear before us.
But, many a time, it is our own fault that we feel confounded and lost. A hand may be guiding us, but, we overlook its presence as our eyes are on other sights that keep popping up along the way.
We should have a clear vision of the hand that can guide us. A vision without any distractions.
